In its most basic form, the word worship means ascribing worth or value to something. We worship what we adore and value as individuals. At Wellspring Church, we worship God for who He is and what he has done for us because He is so worthy of worship. If you would like to know more about who Jesus is, click here.
The Bible challenges followers of Jesus to worship Him. Worship can happen in many different ways. Prayer, meditation, Bible reading and singing songs are some of these ways. As believers, worship really forms a lifestyle as we “fix our eyes on Jesus as the author and perfector of our faith” (Hebrews 12:1-2). When we intentionally focus on God and worship Him, God will reveal Himself to us. The Bible puts it this way: “God inhabits the praises of His people” (Psalm 22:3).
Here at Wellspring, we have set worship as one of our core values. We worship God at our corporate gatherings mainly through songs, Bible-centered teachings, and prayer. However, we often incorporate creative elements like dramas, dramatic readings, thought-provoking media, etc. to help us better turn our focus on God and worship Him. During our services and mid-week gatherings, people are free to express their worship individually through singing, clapping, raising of hands, bowing, etc. People can also worship through giving financially or in some serving role. Wellspring always encourages followers of Jesus to build into their lives private as well as family time spent worshiping God as well.
