Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.” The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord. It is good for a man to bear the yoke while he is young. Lamentations 3:22-27
There will be times of waiting in our lives, seasons of rest. However, God proves to be good to the man who passionately waits on or to the woman who diligently seeks Him. To those who quietly hope in the Lord, He will give beauty for ashes, gladness for mourning and praise for despair (Isaiah 61:3). He will give us deliverance and salvation, victory and triumph, healing and strength for this day and everyday to come.
When we are aware that the Lord has called and equipped us to do something, He will at times shut the door on it for now. At times we also may not hear from the Lord as tangibly as we once did. We must remember during such a season, however, to stand on the promises of God found in His Word. I have heard it said, “Remember in the dark what you heard in the light.” This is what we must do as we wait on Him, our portion. His faithfulness will sustain us, as Lamentations declares. The Lord’s compassions never fail us.
Today’s Prayer: Lord, you are El Roi, the God who sees. You know how my heart wants to run, to serve the poor and needy, to bring the good news to the world. You know how I have longed to be used by You. You also know how I desire to meet the needs of my family and that I am desperate for your healing. Oh Lord, help me to have the faith to believe Your promises. Help me to believe You will repair the broken places in my life in Your time because You have a purpose for me. I wait on You as I see Jesus on my horizon, for I know You make everything beautiful in Your time. Help me to cling to You and receive from you in each quiet season of nourishment. My hope is in You, Jesus. My hope is in You. Amen.
