One of our three core values at Wellspring Church is to serve. Here at Wellspring, we believe every person has a unique set of talents and skills that is indispensible to the church, the people of Christ. The Bible, in fact, challenges all believers to “serve one another humbly in love” (Galatians 5:13). In Matthew 23:11, Jesus himself declares, “The greatest among you will be your servant.”
Jesus, the greatest servant of all, modeled servanthood for us with His life and His death and resurrection from the cross. The first and foremost way we serve is by loving those in our homes, in the workplace and in our community. Jesus clearly tells us to “love your neighbor as yourself” (Mark 12:31). However, in serving God wants us to walk with Him, to partner with Him and others, by doing what he has called and created us to do. He never wants us to do things for Him, apart from His grace and strength. He also never wants us to serve Him in attempt to earn His love or favor. We are completely loved and accepted only through the finished work of Jesus on the cross. If you would like to learn more about Jesus and His finished work, please click here.
At Wellspring, we encourage every single person to participate first by attending corporate and mid-week gatherings and, secondly, by choosing an area of ministry, in which his or her individual skills can best fit. We always need help with weekly operations, prayer, and children’s ministry. However, there are innumerable ways to get involved and participate. If you would like to investigate these further, go to the Ministries heading above.
